Our History
Bytes Healthcare Solutions, previously known as Digital Healthcare Solutions (DHS), was formed in May 2001 as a merger between the QEDI business of Business Connexion (then Comparex Africa) and Mediswitch, a subsidiary of Bytes.
In April 2005, Bytes Technology Group Ltd (Bytes) obtained permission from the competition authorities to acquire the Business Connexion and Netcare shareholdings in DHS. Subsequently it also bought the minority shareholding of United South African Pharmacies, thus making DHS a wholly owned Bytes subsidiary. As a final step Bytes sold its DHS shareholding to its South African subsidiary, a vehicle which is 27% owned by Kagiso Strategic Investments.
In 2007, the Board of Directors of Digital Healthcare Solutions approved a resolution for the name of the company to change to Bytes Healthcare Solutions and this change took effect from 1 March 2008.
Today, Bytes Healthcare Solutions is the largest provider of claim submitting and practice administration solutions in South Africa.
